About Ljubljana
Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is a central European city lying between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. It has all the facilities of a modern capital, and yet it has preserved its small-town friendliness and relaxed atmosphere with only 300 000 inhabitants and a lot of green area as part of the city. Ljubljana is Slovenia’s political, cultural and economic centre.
Ljubljana is connected to 15 EU capitals with daily flights and can be reached from Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich with several flights a day. The nearby airports Klagenfurt, Zagreb and Graz are within reach with a good on-ground infrastructure connection, while Trieste, Venice, Vienna and Munich can be reached within a few hours’ drive. Beyond the international section in the State School, Danila Kumar Elementary School, there are three private international schools in Ljubljana: British International School of Ljubljana , QSI International School of Ljubljana and Ecole Française de Ljubljana. Grammar school Gimnazija Bežigrad offers International Baccalaureate at the secondary school level. Ljubljana is considered to be one of the safest capitals of Europe, with great prosperity and good infrastructure connecting it with the major cities and hubs of Europe, which makes it an easily accessible and a living-friendly destination. Magazine Forbes (2008) declared Ljubljana as the 5th most idyllic place to live in Europe!
Slovenia is part of the Euro zone and the Schengen area. It ranked 16th among EU-27 on the GDP Purchasing Power Standard in 2007 and its GDP per capita is 18,204 EUR. Compared to the EU average 2007, Slovenia has higher economic growth rate and higher employment rate.
