Gas Regional Initiatives – Preparation of the Work Plans for 2011-2014
The Gas Regional Initiatives aim to push forward the integration of the gas markets in close cooperation with the stakeholders of the gas sector and Member States involving ACER and the European Commission in the process.
At regional level, the gas regions are committed to move deeper with market integration at a practical level. This requires on the one hand making more efficient the current use of the infrastructure and on the other hand the development of it.
As a first step, the implementation pilot projects for the network code on capacity allocation mechanisms may contribute to this endeavour. Regions will also consider launching pilots for other Framework guidelines to ensure that hub-to-hub trading in the EU is coming feasible. Monitoring transparency requirements on the networks remains high on the agenda.
Concerning investments, regions are ready to foster new investments, including better connections among Member States and increase security of supply by the means of EU Regulation 994/2010.
