Welcome to the page for monitoring activities that take place under the Electricity Regional Initiatives (ERI).

 

In the Electricity Regional Initiatives the National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) are committed to monitor the economic efficiency of cross border transmission capacities and congestion management methods. This monitoring assessment should help NRAs to reach a common understanding about the functioning of congestion management methods and to improve its functioning.

 

Moreover, the Agency is tasked pursuant to Article 11 of Regulation (EC) No. 713/2009 to annually report about the performance of EU energy markets and report in particular on barriers to market integration to the European Parliament.

 

In order to cross-fertilize the above-mentioned monitoring activities, NRAs have agreed (on 9 January 2012) that the Agency will include the above-mentioned assessment in its market monitoring report. The NRAs support this by providing Agency the necessary data that has been identified by the Agency and discussed with NRAs on 28 February 2012. For this purpose ACER has developed a template holding the data needed which facilitates the data requested from NRAs.
